Gross-Net Salary Calculator 2026

A German gross-to-net salary calculator for the 2026 tax year. Works out your take-home pay, the deductions and the hourly rate straight in the browser.

The usual online calculators annoy me: cookie banners, outdated numbers, and for the "detailed" report they want your email address. So I built my own. A single HTML file, no backend, no dependencies. Every input stays in localStorage, nothing leaves the browser.

It applies income tax under § 39b EStG with the 2026 schedule, plus church tax and the solidarity surcharge. Social security runs with the current contribution ceilings, either as mandatory or voluntary insurance, and in the voluntary case the employer subsidy is shown separately. Holiday and Christmas bonuses go in as monthly salaries and are spread across the year at 1/12, and from the weekly hours it works out the net and gross hourly wage. Several calculations run side by side as tabs, the ones you tick end up in the comparison below.

I checked the math against a real payslip, the full reconciliation sits on the page itself in a collapsible section. For a new tax year I only have to touch the tax brackets and a couple of constants.

Tech-Stack: HTML, Vanilla JavaScript, localStorage
